Finally, a Healthcare Plan That Gets Back to Basics
IWV Applauds the Republican Study Committee’s Health Reform Plan

“This plan is not simply a political football or a response to the Affordable Care Act: it’s a solution aimed at problems in health care that have festered for a long time.”

Washington, DC -- Independent Women’s Voice (IWV), in response to the release of a new health reform plan from the Republican Study Committee (RSC), thanks the Committee for the courage and vision to make American health care great again.

“Finally, a health plan that gets back to basics: This plan would make health insurance affordable and portable, allowing us to keep our coverage even when changing jobs,” said Hadley Heath Manning, Policy Director at Independent Women’s Voice. “This plan is not simply a political football or a response to the Affordable Care Act: it’s a solution aimed at problems in health care that have festered for a long time.”

Importantly, the plan strengthens government safety nets and refocuses help on those who need it most, including those with pre-existing health conditions, who would continue to be protected.

“Sadly, too much of the recent health reform debate has focused on Medicare for All, a one-sized-fits-all approach that would devastate the U.S,” Manning added. “This plan offers a clear alternative vision for what health care could be."

“Instead, this plan starts with the premise that there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all in health care. Each person should be free to use and pay for health care as he or she sees fit, and when that happens, we will see better health, greater transparency, more accountability, less frustration, and lower costs.”
