Ellen DeGeneres’ Important Message

You probably saw that daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is being attacked by some on social media for having the audacity to sit next to former Republican President George W. Bush, a friend of hers, at a Dallas Cowboys-Green Bay Packers NFL game on Sunday night.

Apparently, it’s no longer acceptable for two friends to sit and watch a football game together if one of the friends subscribes to a different set of beliefs.

Just take a look at this tweet

This isn’t the way to champion women. We don’t discount that Americans hold varying opinions on important policy issues.

But despite these differences, we all deserve to be treated with civility and kindness. Women, and really all Americans, stand to benefit from a friendlier and more inclusive society.

Ellen had the perfect response to her relentless critics:

“Just because I don’t agree with someone on everything doesn’t mean that I’m not going to be friends with them. When I say, ‘Be kind to one another,’ I don’t mean only the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
